I love music! Especially singing.....but I wouldn't dare make anybody listen to me! My kids and I could sing up a storm when we're riding in the car.

Are You A "Touchy" Person?
by minimus inare you a bit oversensitive?
do you tend to take offense easily?
do you find yourself charecterizing people by their race or nationality?
-
Lost Diamond
I wouldn't consider myslef touchy in a "high maintenance" kind of way. I just find that people's moods rub off on me easily. This is why I like to associate with people that are happy and cheerful. I don't take personal offence easily, though. I could walk into a room and feel the "energy" level quite easily.

Why Did You???
by kelpie inwhy did you choose the nickname you did for this forum??
also who do you think has the coolest/funniest/weirdest name on the board?
i choose kelpie because that is my partner's nickname for me as my initials are klp.

I chose my name because I felt kind of lost after leaving the Org., but there is still some life and worth left in me and with many facets (sp?). I'd like to think that I am still a valuable person.

Are you lonely today?
by gumby inwell it's thanksgiving today.. yes today is the day families get together and enjoy the company of those we love.. if you are an apostate as we are....this isn't the case.
today our witness families and friends will be getting together and eating a big turkey dinner also....they always do.
are you sad today of the reminder that this religion has broke this relationship?

I thought I was going to have a lonely day today, but it didn't turn our that way. My kids are with their Dad who is still a JW...they went to meeting tonight, so I planned to spend Thanksgiving by myself. My Ex and his new JW family had their big shingding last Saturday, but they didn't claim it was for Thanksgiving.
I went over my mothers' who is a JW (but isn't active) and spent the morning with her. We had some good mother-daughter conversation. We then decided to drive to a casino here in Oregon by the coast. The day was beautiful for a drive and it allowed more mother-daughter bonding! We did play a few nickle machines (LOL) and we had a great dinner. I didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. It turned out to be a pretty enjoyable day......even though we didn't win anything.

I'd say get out! You are much too good for her! You can't make her love you no matter what. There are so many other women in the world that would deserve your love and affection, but not this one. I'm sorry you had to go through all this.

A Question To All You Women Out There
by SpannerintheWorks inyour partner gets home from work, and he's in a shitty mood.
he kicks the cat (twice) and the doors are hanging off their hinges.
1. say: did you have a bad day at the office, dear?.

First of all, I wouldn't have a man around that was lazy and always in a crapy mood, much less kicked my cat around! But just for the sake of answering this question:
I might ask what is wrong, but I find that most men do not like to talk about why they are angry. These feelings would need to come out on their own if he would want to share it with me. I wouldn't want him hooked on drugs, so I'd skip the Valium. I'd leave him alone and let him get over it on his own. When he cooled off I would treat him kindly and give him anything he wanted.

Could You Live Without Your CellPhone?
by SpannerintheWorks ini rely on it for business.
some reports say that they cause brain tumours...?
they also save a lot of lives (indirectly, of course) by allowing the user to dial for emergency services when there isn't a payphone nearby.

I carry my cell phone everywhere I go, but the only time I use it is to communicate with my family when I'm not home. My pet peeve is when I'm at a restaurant or any public place for that matter, and somebody is talking on a cell without a care about who hears their conversation or what their conversation is about! I think that is so rude!

My Dad smoked for about 34 years...started when he was 19. He used to smoke 3 packs a day and sometimes cigars. He quite eventually, but he died at the age of 60 after open heart surgery. I'm sure his heart was already damaged from all his smoking. Once the heart cells are damaged, they are irreparable. I choose not to smoke.

Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steven Hassan is a very good book too. It lists ways of identifying Cults....so many (if not all) matched the JW's.
